I haven’t done any tags or awards for a while, so as I’ve been tagged for two in the past week, I decided to double them up.
Starting with the Travel Tag, I want to thank This, Tatt and the Other for the nomination. I love reading her travel posts, especially seeing the beautiful Greek islands she’s visited. So go check out her blog.
You’re leaving tomorrow to start a life in a new country, where would you go?
The Countries that I’ve been to and said I could live in, are Malta and Germany. I love both places, as Malta has a relaxed feel, great beaches, good weather and it’s English speaking.
Germany would be a bit more difficult as I can speak very little of the language, but again I found Munich in particular relaxed, the people friendly and I loved the shopping and the culture.
You can take someone away for a weekend to the place you had the best holidays ever, where would that be and who would you take to go with you?
Me and my partner have been to Malta three times and it’s a place we love. So I’d take him with me and go there again!
You can get married wherever you want to, your budget is limitless, what is your choice?
Either a beautiful tropical island for the stunning backdrop and beaches or somewhere along the Amalfi Coast in Italy, as it looks romantic.
During your travels you can bring home one animal as a pet, which one would you pick?
That’s tough as I’m such an animal lover. I fed a tiger on holiday, so I’ve grown to really love them. But I also adore lemurs and orangutans.
You can go back in time and relive one family trip, which one?
All my holidays with my family have been in the UK and I’ve enjoyed them all. But I liked our holiday to Somerset a few years ago, as the weather was good and it’s a place I love.
What is the first thing you would pack for a one year trip around the world?
My passport or I wouldn’t be getting very far!
What would your fantasy 100th birthday destination be and why?
I’ve never thought anywhere near that far ahead, but if I live to such an old age, I’d better go on a big, once in a lifetime trip.
During your travel you can learn one sport to become a pro in, what would that be?
I’m not a particularly sporty person, but I’d like to be able to surf as I’ve never done it or to be a better swimmer.
I nominate the following people to answer the same questions as I answered above:
- Green lights ahead
- Ankhor You
I also want to thank kawaiipeachgrl for the nomination for the Entertainer Blogger Award. I love reading her great makeup and beauty posts, so go check her out!

- Thank the person who nominated you and leave a link to their blog.
What do you hope to gain from blogging?
I enjoyed reading other blogs online, so I wanted to write my own about things I love and enjoy, such as beauty and travel. All I hoped to gain was enjoyment from writing about these things and that others would hopefully enjoy my posts too.
What genre of film entertains you the most?
I watch all genres of film except action movies, but I enjoy films based on true stories the most.
Do you consider yourself a writer, and what inspires you to write?
I guess so as I do write my blogs and in the past when I had more time, I’d write stories and poetry. My degree was also in Creative and Professional Writing. I’m just inspired by the things I enjoy. I love beauty, travel and days out, so I write about those things.
Why did you choose your particular WordPress username?
I didn’t have a clue what to call my blog, so I asked people for suggestions. The one that stood out was A Beautiful Thing, as I write about beautiful things I enjoy.
What is your favourite book and why does it speak to you?
My two favourite books are Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I enjoy love stories, even if they do end tragically like Romeo and Juliet.
To Kill a Mockingbird I’ve always found beautifully and quite simply written, yet it’s moving and says a lot about racial tensions at the time it was written.
What is your favourite song and why does it speak to you?
Again I have two. I love Adele’s Someone Like You, as when I first heard her sing it at the Brit Awards, I found it beautiful and moving.
I also love John Legend’s All of Me. Me and my partner was driving home from a romantic Valentines break in Somerset, when we heard this for the first time on the radio. We then heard it again on our first holiday abroad together.
What is your favourite photograph and why does it speak to you?
I have so many photos, I honestly can’t choose. However, I do like looking back at all my holiday photos to remind me of the places I’ve been.

- Chanelle Hayley
- Mrs Strawberry Blonde
- Rachael Styles-Helpless Whilst Drying
