Anniversary Trip to Brighton Pt.2

On our second day in Brighton, it was mine and my partner’s fourth anniversary together. As I’ve had an ongoing cold, I started the day with a huge bubble bath in our room.

Just what I needed. Then presents!

I’ll be doing a full post on all my gifts soon.

As we was running late, we skipped breakfast and walked past the pier, to the i360.

The i360 is an attraction that only opened in August. It’s a huge steel structure, with a moving glass pod that reaches the top and offers views across Brighton.

From the distance it doesn’t look particularly special.

But up close, the pod that carries people to the top looks like a space craft. Very cool!

We arrived thirty minutes early as recommended, to go through security checks and then waited our turn.

A video of Brighton beach and the i360.

The inside of the pod itself is huge. A glass structure that has a bar and seating inside. Due to the circular shape, you can walk all the way around once inside and the experience to the top and back down only takes twenty minutes in total.

A video inside the pod.

As the sun was shining, the view across the water and beach was stunning.

Some photos on board the i360 pod.

And then we was back on solid ground, after a really enjoyable trip.

We walked along the beach to take in the warm rays of sun.

Before reaching the fishing district on the beach. There was stalls selling fresh seafood, nautical and beach inspired gifts and we looked at old fishing boats.

We stumbled across another Snowdog. We found 13 in total by the end of our trip.

Before ending up in the Artists Quarter on the beach. Full of craft shops and quaint places selling shells and all types of ornaments made from them.

Then it was time to head back to our hotel and pick up our car.

We drove twenty minutes to a small place called Cakes The Difference. Ranked number two for places to eat in all of Brighton, it was the perfect place to go for our anniversary.

We booked in for afternoon tea and for only £20 per person, it was certainly value for money.

We started with sandwiches. There was cream cheese and cucumber, humnus and red pepper, cheese and red onion and finally, cheese and avocado.

All delicious and a generous amount too. Then it was time for freshly baked cakes and scones.

Cakes The Difference provide so much food and variety, we didn’t know what to try first! I particularly loved the scones, meringues and cute strawberry shortbread biscuits.

Full up, the staff put the rest of our cakes in a box to takeaway. Ready for us to devour later.

After such a huge feast, we rested in our hotel, watched some TV and enjoyed spending some lazy time together.

But that wasn’t the end of our anniversary celebrations. We freshened up, took a walk along the pier and then it was time for dinner.

We headed to a place opposite the i360, called Smokeys. A large and very busy restaurant serving American style food.

I had the spicy bean burger with fries and coleslaw, whilst my partner opted for a cheese burger. The food was delicious and full of flavour. A lovely way to end our anniversary.

On our third and final day, we packed up and left the lovely Drakes hotel.

Again, we walked along the pier and played some games, before strolling along the beach. The weather was windy and the sea rough, but it wasn’t too cold.

We had Subway for brunch.

Before exploring Brighton’s abundance of shops. I fell in love with this River Island jacket, but as it’s £90, I’ve held off…for now. I did however get a few beauty bits, which I’ll mention in a haul soon.

We took photos in front of the famous Royal Pavilion building. An exotic looking place, originally built by King George IV as his seaside palace.

As I was still not feeling my best, we didn’t pay to go in. However, this gives us a great excuse to go back to Brighton!

And before we knew it, it was time to go home. My partner and I, already discussing a return visit.
