Our fifth day in New York was a very special one, as my partner turned 27!
We had a leisurely start to the day as we slept in and then my partner opened his cards and presents in bed.
Once he’d enjoyed his gifts, we got ready and headed out for breakfast at Pershing Square.

Full up after a sugary breakfast, we crossed the road to look at Grand Central Terminal (train station). Grand Central Station is one of the busiest train stations in the world.
After, we headed to the Rockefeller Center where shows such as Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show are filmed.
The Rockefeller Center’s pretty huge inside, with lots of restaurants, shops and more. We explored some stores, grabbed a drink in Pret and then headed upstairs to the Top of The Rock observation deck.
We was told that visibility was poor as it was a bit rainy and misty, but we still wanted to try.
Even though the views weren’t as good as they could have been, we still had fun picking out all the buildings we recognised. Plus we was given free tickets to try again later in the week!
After Top of The Rock, we headed back towards our hotel. I’d ordered my partner’s birthday cake from Paris Baguette, so we collected it on the way.
I got him the Strawberry Fresh Cream Cake, which looked and tasted amazing. It was just melt in your mouth deliciousness.
After eating cake and freshening up, we got an Uber to Pier 78 as I’d booked a Twilight Boat Cruise.

The Twilight Boat Cruise was definitely one of our New York highlights. Watching the light change from sunset to dark over the city and seeing the views of the Manhattan skyline was amazing.
After our boat ride, we got an Uber to Chuck and Blade restaurant.
It was pretty dark inside, but I managed to get a few photos.
For starters we had Fried Mozzarella Triangles with tomato sauce, which was just delicious.
And the Chuck and Blade speciality, The Bocce Ball.
The Bocce Ball is fried mac and cheese, with three more types of cheese inside and on top. It was super fun to cut into, but a bit of a cheese overload for me. My partner enjoyed it though.
For mains my partner got a burger and fries and I got the risotto. Again, my partner liked his food but my risotto was a bit flavourless.
Bellies full, we hailed a cab and headed back to our hotel, ready for day six.

So neat that you went to The Rockefeller Center! Truly iconic even if the visibility was poor.
Cruising is definitely a great way to experience cities by the water – I’ve always wanted to see NYC from the water!

It is iconic. I really enjoyed wandering around inside😊 Thankfully the visibilty was good on our return visit, but even with poor visibilty it’s still great to visit. I love cruises and in NYC it’s a really great place to do a boat tour. It is really is beautiful at night😊 Aaw thank you. It was a really nice cake! I love fruit and cream birthday cakes☺ x

Yes, it was around sunset when we went. So we saw the city at sunset and then at night lit up xx

When you celebrate your birthdays/anniversaries while on vacation, do you haul all of your cards and presents with you? That’s dedication! My huband and I barely bring enough clothes and essentials, let alone gifts!

I have always wanted to do a boat cruise. One of these days I will! 🙂 And oh my lanta girl your food pictures had my mouth watering ESPECIALLY that strawberry cream cake. It looked absolutely divine! I love Rock Center. So much to do there! 🙂 ❤

It looked it! I love boats and I have not done the one around New York. I NEED too! That is awesome! Though if it was me, I am not sure I would have had any leftovers. ;p ❤

It looks fantastic! Your weather up Top of the Rock was definitely the complete opposite as it was for me when I was in New York in 2010! But then again I was there in July! I really regret that we didn’t get round to going to Grand Central Station though!

Aaw thank you☺ Funnily enough we had such good weather all week, the only rainy/misty day was my partner’s birthday🙈😂 When we went back later in the week the views were much better. It is such a huge station, we got lost trying to find the exit haha! Xx
