I really enjoyed posting about my 2017 New Year’s Resolutions on here and giving an update about how I got on each month.
But this year I’m keeping it simple. I have five resolutions to keep to, as I have no idea where the year will lead. I decided that in April/May time this year I will be leaving my job and it looks like we could also be moving! I’ll know more in the next month or so.
So 2018 could be an exciting year full of changes.
Here are my five resolutions for 2018, which I may add to throughout the year:
1-Eat healthier and exercise
I decided to put these two together for this year. In 2017 I made some progress with healthier eating and I also signed up to the gym, so I’m hoping to continue making progress this year.
2-Read more
I’m always reading magazines, but I’ve hardly read any books lately. I own a tonne that are just sitting on my bookshelf, so I hope to read more this year. The goal is to read at least one book per month if possible.
3-Do 2 new things per month
This is a resolution that I really enjoy, as it pushes me to try new things and it can include any new thing, no matter how big or small. Whether it’s trying a new restaurant, visiting a new park or a country it all counts.
4-Visit three NEW countries and three NEW Cities (Any new towns and villages, or extra cities/countries are a bonus)
I’ve included this as a resolution again because I just love travel! We was fortunate to visit a lot of new places last year, so if we can visit even half as many places this year I’d be thankful.
5-Use up what I have before buying more
If ever there was a time for me to stick to this, it’s now! I have a room packed full of beauty products from holidays, my birthday, Christmas.
I have more than enough, so I’ll try to only purchase essentials. Essentials can include makeup so long as it’s an item I use daily like foundation, concealer, etc.
Bonus Round
Whilst not officially one of my five resolutions, I’m aiming to give myself more ‘me time’ this year. Time to watch TV shows, to have pampering sessions or go for a walk.
Even just having days to sort through my room and catch up on things.
Let me know your 2018 New Year’s Resolutions.
Such great resolutions! I especially love your bonus one of more me time. That is so important! And I am so excited to see where new adventures lead you to in the spring time! Good luck beauty! ❤

Me Time is important, I used to think 5-10 minutes a day was enough but the more the better! I like your goal of doing two new things per month, you inspired my goal of ‘doing one new thing per month’ ☺

Definitely more the better! I guess even when I’m at home, I always find things I have to do, so I never just relax and give myself ‘me time’. Aaw really?☺ It’s a really fun resolution as it pushes you to try new things😊 x

Me time shouldn’t involve cleaning or chores unless you feel like it 😜 Sure did, you inspired me x

Haha no it shouldn’t. I wouldn’t mind one day to completely sort through my room though😂 Aaw thanks hun xx

Ooh so excited to see what new countries and new cities you’ll be hitting up in 2018!
As you know, I’m a huge advocate of using up what we have first! 😉
More “me” time is so important! 🙂
Good luck with all of your goals! I also love how you do regular updates through the year – such accountability!

I’m excited too. We have one trip planned but it’s a repeat city and country, so it’ll be interesting to see where we visit throughout the year😊 😂 Me and you definitely have more products than any human could need. I know I do after Christmas🙈 January is definitely a downtime, me time month😊 Thank you. It does help keep me on track☺ xx

All of these sound fantastic and I am sure you will have a lot of success in reaching them. I really like the idea of using things up before buying new ones, because this is something many of us overlook despite how crucial it is in terms of reducing waste and saving money. Hoping your 2018 is off to a good start!

Aaw thank you☺ I agree. It’s too easy to just buy more new things and neglect what you already have. Thank you, I hope 2018 is a great year for you☺ x

I can’t wait to see where you end up this year – you travelled so much last year (especially to places we’d been the year before and it was making me have very severe holiday blues haha). Just don’t make me as jealous this time! We’ve already got two UK trips in for this year, we’re going to Southwold for my birthday in a few weeks and Snowdon over Easter, two places we’ve not been to before. We’re hoping for our big hol this year we’ll go to Canada but awaiting our friend to confirm what bloody part of the country he’s moving to or whether he’s staying where he is before we book our flights, fingers crossed we can go sometime between August & October though.
Last year was definitely my year of using up what I had – I did a really big organise at the start of the year and organised everything into different groups and had them separated out stored in categories. When I ran out of something it was easy to run to the box and be like “nope still got 8 hand creams I don’t need to buy another” – It really helped me see everything as a group and made me evaluate just how much I didn’t need need to buy for quite some time – I was still going at the end of the year and it was clear even after 5 years I wouldn’t get through some of it, so I decided to donate a big box of stuff to a foodbank over Christmas and I still have plenty to keep me going!
Hope 2018 is as fun and exciting as what 2017 was for you both xx

Haha well I’d like to see where we end up this year, as I don’t have a clue😂 We have one trip booked for March to somewhere we’ve been before and we’re trying to sort one big trip, so fingers crossed☺ 😂 Haha I’ll try not to make you jealous😊 Aaw both of them breaks sound lovely😊 Will you be staying with your friend? Canada looks beautiful so that’d be an awesome trip. Wow you did great! I’ve started to write up lists of things to use up etc cos atm my room is clutter central! Aaw thank you. I hope it’s an amazing year for you😊 xx

Yes we will be – he’s either going to be nearish to Toronto (in the scheme of Canada) or the other side in Vancouver – we’ll probably have a couple of days in which ever city we fly to either side and stay with him for a week inbetween! Yes I did write a list too actually and it helped me stocktake and form some blog post ideas too for the year! xx

Great resolutions Hun! Me time is so important and definitely something we should all make a priority more often. You can definitely achieve reading one new book a month, it can be part of your me time if you sit down and read before bed! Good luck Hun 🙂 x

Aaw thank you☺ It is important. I think January is an easier month to give myself more me time, as I go out less. You’re right. I should read before bed. Very often I’m at my partner’s but at home I can try☺ Thanks lovely x

Absolutely! Me time is sooo important! Yeah January’s definitely a good time to relax after Christmas, most people tend to stay in more. Yes definitely – or even read when you’re in the bath, that’s what I usually do. You’re welcome! x

I ate so many cookies over the holidays, I gained 3 lbs. Even though the cookies were delicious, I didn’t feel so great after eating them (too much sugar, dairy, & wheat). For the past 2 weeks, I’ve been eating cleaner and feeling a lot better. Good luck with your resolutions!
