On our last day in Lapland we celebrated with a big breakfast as it was my brother’s birthday, before getting picked up for a full day of fun.
Our first stop was at the beautiful and magical Santa Claus Village.
The Village is a winter wonderland, with snow, twinkling lights and attractions such as Santa Claus’ Main Post Office from which we sent our grandad a postcard. He was delighted to receive it all the way from Lapland!
After a great time exploring Santa’s Village, we hopped on our coach and was taken to Santa Park, an underground cavern.
We visited Elf School and made our own Santa’s.
We decorated gingerbread cookies.
And explored the Ice Gallery, where I tried a drink served in a glass made of ice.
The birthday boy.
After a day of Christmas activities, we was taken back to Rovaniemi city centre, where we went out for waffles at Cafe & Bar 21.
Bellies full, we went back to our hotel to relax for a couple of hours.
As it got towards dinner time, our coach picked us up to take us to a special Christmas Gala.
We played quizzes, sang songs and had a three course dinner.
Soup to start.
A vegetarian bake, potato wedges and veggies for my main.
And we also had chocolate cake for dessert, which I forgot to take a picture of!
Us with our plastic moustache toy from a cracker.
Towards the end of the evening, we headed outside to watch a firework display and to see Santa arrive.
My brother and all of the other children were super excited to see him arrive on his sleigh.
Our family meeting and photos with Santa Claus himself.
After an amazing day, my mum and brother turned in for the night as soon as we reached our hotel, whilst me and my partner went for a final night-time walk.
We made snow angels.
And had a snowball fight, before heading back to our hotel to pack up our cases and catch some sleep before our flight home.
That’s so sweet that you sent a postcard to your grandfather from Finland! 🙂
It really does look like a winter wonderland there. They must really play up the Santa aspect during the holidays. 🙂
Did that ice cup stick to your lips when you drank from it?! 😛
It’s been years since the last time I made a snow angel… I do recall that I got snow all on my wrists between my coat and mittens, and I developed a hive from the snow! #delicate 😆

He loves postcards! He has all of the ones I’ve got him on display as he shows my nan’s photo (she passed away) where I’ve been😊 It really is a winter wonderland. Oh yeah. Santa’s Village etc is open all year, but most people visit before Christmas so everyone in Lapland makes your experience special☺ 😂 Thankfully not. It was more painful to hold it than to drink from it! 😂 Well I don’t think I’d ever done a proper snow angel ’til Lapland, we don’t get enough snow! I think I must be delicate too, as we got back to our hotel and my leg was black and weird like a car had left tyre tracks on my leg. Must have been from doing snow angels🙈 x

Aaw thank you😊 You would love it! It’s very different to where you and I are from. It’s the first time in my life I’d seen very deep snow☺ We had such a lovely trip and my brother had a very special birthday xx

This looks amazing! 😍 I love that there’s an ‘elf’ school haha. Lapland has always been a dream destination for me, I can’t even begin to imagine how magical and festive it must feel! The ice glass looked really cool too, your hands must’ve been so numb!

It was so amazing😊 Haha you get a certificate once you graduate elf school too! My hands were cold, pure ice just stings your hands!🙈 Aaw you should definitely go. It’s so magical and the perfect break before Christmas. When I came back home it didn’t feel Christmassy at all, as it’s so snowy and magical in Lapland😊 xx

I’m not keen on snow, but it looks like you had so much fun!
The Santa’s village looks amazing. I would have loved to visit as a kid.
Brrrr! Holding the glass of ice must have been something! I couldn’t have done it. Had to rearrange some stuff in the freezer yesterday, and that was more than enough. 😀
Best belated wishes to the birthday boy! 🙂

UK snow I have to admit I’m not a fan of, but the snow in Lapland is dry and non-slushy☺ It is gorgeous there. Even as an adult I was impressed so it must seem magical to children. 😂 I guess I got a bit used to the cold. It was -16 some days and I was in a forest for hours waiting for the northern lights😂 Aaw thank you ❤ x

Oh my lanta I NEED to go to Santa’s Village! It reminds me so much of the North Pole and all those scenes you see in Christmas movies of what it is! So much fun! And your pictures are stunning as always and capture the magic so well! Also hat waffle bar looks divine! I am glad you guys had such a fun time and happy belated birthday to your brother! ❤
