Throughout 2019 I posted a monthly update about how I was doing with my New Year’s Resolutions, so I thought I’d round it off by saying how I did not just in December, but in 2019 as a whole. So here’s a look at how I got on.
1-Eat Healthy & Exercise
Achieved! If 2018 was the year where I kick-started my healthy eating and exercise, 2019 was the year to keep up the hard work and I did! I cooked and ate at home more, I exercised four times a week and I’m really proud of how far my fitness has come.
2-Read More
December was a very busy month. I was out a lot and I was working in different schools as a TA so I didn’t start reading a book until later in the month (which I should finish soon).
That said, my aim for 2019 was to read at least fifteen books and I managed a grand total of seventeen!
Here’s a list of all the books I read last year:
1-Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2019
2-The Cry by Helen Fitzgerald
3-The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking
4-Watching You by Lisa Jewell
5-You Let Me In by Lucy Clarke
6-Lonely Planet Bali & Lombok
7-Happy by Fearne Cotton
8-Lonely Planet Borneo
9-Lonely Planet Thailand’s Islands & Beaches
10-Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
11-One Thousand Stars and You by Isabelle Broom
12-You Were Gone by Tim Weaver
13-Fireball by Robert Matzen
14-Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman
15-Just Before I Died by S.K. Tremayne
16-You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
17-In Order to Live by Yeonmi Parks
I think overall I read a nice mixture of books and there wasn’t one that I didn’t like.
3-Do 2 New Things Per Month
Achieved every single month!
In December we did lots of new things such as:
-Have a vegan three course Christmas meal at the Oaktree Vegan Restaurant.
-Saw the Tutankhamun exhibition in London.
-And went on holiday to New York with my family and partner, where we saw the Christmas lights at Dyker Heights, visited a light festival and more.
4-Travel/Go For Days Out
In December we visited the Saatchi Gallery for the Tutankhamun exhibition and the Natural History Museum.
We also went to New York for Christmas!
Throughout 2019 we had lots of days out and several UK breaks to the New Forest, Caister, Somerset, Devon and Bournemouth.
I also spent a month in Asia travelling Thailand and Borneo, spent my birthday in Turkey and Christmas in New York.
5-Save Money
In 2019 I did well to not buy or shop as much as I used to. I started to value money more and spent it making menories instead! We spent a lot on days out and travel but overall we did well.
6-Use My Phone Less
The only resolution I failed on is this one. I definitely use my phone too much, maybe even more than at the start of the year so I am disappointed, but I hope to rectify this next year.
Let me know how you did with your 2019 resolutions.
Yay! You had a great year and read such a nice mixture of books too, that’s awesome! And well done on achieving your health and fitness goals too, that is such a wonderful achievement! Congrats!! Here’s to a wonderful 2020! You’re going to have another amazing year!

You killed it beauty! I am so proud of you and in awe, especially since I don’t make resolutions. I wouldn’t beat yourself to much about your phone. It is difficult because of the world we live in, and you especially need it when you travel! Can not wait to see what you work on in 2020. ❤

Well done! Using phones less is hard, digital technology plays such a huge part in our lives. I didn’t achieve any of my 2019 goals but they weren’t major so I’m not so disappointed x

New here! So you failed with one… I’d call that a huge success. You obviously killed it in 2019. You’re an inspiration. I’m happy I came across your blog 😊
