Fruit Picking, Picturesque Towns & Japanese Food

A couple of weekends ago me and my partner finally went out for the day! Whilst most places were shut, some shops were open and most things will re-open from July 4th, so not long to go! It is still an unusual time and I’m guessing things wont be quite back to normal for some time yet. That said, it was lovely to head out into the countryside and get some air. So here’s a look at what we got up to.

As all of the farms we usually visit were closed we ventured a bit further out to Copas Farm in Cookham. A leisurely hour and twenty minute drive passed by.

Selfies in the car.

I wore my new strawberry dress for fruit picking as it seemed appropriate and new makeup from Charlotte Tilbury. The lipstick is in the shade Glowing Jen.

Once we arrived there was a queuing system in place which made it a different fruit picking experience to usual, but as soon as we got into the fields we was on the hunt for the best fruits.

We picked lots of strawberries and two kilos of cherries!

It was lovely to do an activity that also gave us delicious fruits to take home.

We ate some of the cherries, then I used the rest to make vegan cherry pie. Delicious!

After fruit picking we explored the local village of Cookham.

I popped into a local book store and bought the much talked about Queenie.

Then we headed for a stroll by the River Thames. It was so peaceful and beautiful.

After Cookham we drove to the slightly bigger town of Marlow.

Marlow had lots of health food stores and refill stores which I love. Sadly only one was open but it’s a lovely town.

The last stop of the day was Maidenhead. We’d seen a place called Veganushi mentioned so we ordered food to collect and eat in the car.

Unusually, Veganushi is operated from a residential house and garden not a restaurant, so we sat outside waiting for our food on a residential street full of houses.

I have to say the food was underwhelming.

The miso mushroom baos (pictured above) were nice enough although a bit too spicy.

We both had noodle dishes for our mains and they was incredibly bland. The dessert was apple gyoza with raspberry dipping sauce; nice but you can’t go wrong with a frozen dessert.

Despite average food it was nice to have a takeaway and try something new.

After a lovely day of exploring we headed home to do a solstice (start of summer) online yoga nidra class, where we meditated and slept deeply into the night.

    1. Hun it was so weird. You start by doing stretches then lay down and the person chants/meditates. I literally felt like I’d been hypnotized and woke up so groggy😂 Aaw thank you❤ It was a lot of fun and so much yummy fruit too xxx

    1. Aaw thank you😊 Ooh I love cherries. I think because growing up my grandparents had a cherry tree. So we had loads in the summer then froze some to make cherry pie after in autumn😊 The pie was really good😊 I love independent book stores, it had a lot of the currently popular ones x

      3. No plans to blog myself – just reading and commenting again. I haven’t come onto my blog feed in ages! These past few months I’ve been working a lot (difficult to separate work vs home life while working from home) as well as lot of daily walks outdoors (away from people of course).
