2021 Resolutions Update-Jan/Feb/March

It recently struck me that I’ve not done any sort of resolutions post for 2021! I think being in lockdown almost constantly since last November and being ill from long covid made me less excited than usual about entering a new year and the possibilities it holds. But we’re going to be positive that 2021 will get better, so here’s my resolutions.

1-Eat Healthily & Exercise

Yes, yes and yes. It has definitely been harder to exercise since having covid. I was very ill December into January and have suffered hospital trips, relapses in health, etc but I’ve pushed on and tried to exercise as much as my body can handle.

In regards to eating, I have had more treats than usual. In addition to being in lockdown and being ill, my mum has also been in and out of hospital this year, so my eating habits haven’t been terrible but I’ve not been as strict.

2-Read More

So I set myself a target on Goodreads to read 20 books this year and so far I’ve read 7, so I’m on track! I’ve read:

-The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes

-The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

-A Knock at the Door by T.W Ellis

-Stay Home by Ava Pierce

-The Move by Felicity Everett

-No One Can Change Your Life Except For You by Laura Whitmore

-The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

My favourites have been The Giver of Stars, The Silent Patient and The Midnight Library.

3-Do 2 New Things Per Month

I’ve kept this resolution along with many others for years, as it pushes me to try or do new things. Obviously in lockdown it’s been harder to do new things and most have consisted of trying new foods or going for a walk in a new place. As things start to re-open this month, I hope to add some new things to my list.

4-Cook One New Thing Per Month

I loved this resolution last year, so I’ve carried it on.

I have successfully made one or more new things each month this year including:

Cinnamon sugar doughnuts

Vegan sausage rolls

Not-ella cookies

And garlic naan breads

5-Travel/Backpacking/Days Out

I want to keep this resolution in place for the rest of the year. As we’ve been in lockdown since last year and not been able to leave our city, we’ve not travelled or had days out but hopefully soon!

Additional resolutions/aims I’ve set myself:

-Buy Less-Which I talk about in a separate low buy post.

-Use my phone less-I’ve used it a lot because of lockdown but I still want more time where I’m present or just where I focus fully on other tasks.

-Start driving lessons-I’ve tried to book since last year but still no joy at the moment. Hopefully by summer I can book in.

  1. You’ve done quite well considering the circumstances! I chose to not have any resolutions this year, but i’ve been unconsciously eating healthier, at least! I spend way too much time stressing over work and uni so I should probably fix that somehow x

    1. Aaw thank you! Yes there’s been a lot of obstacles making it harder but I think I’ve done as well as I can. Yeah it’s a hard year to make resolutions because you just never know but that’s great! Well done with the eating. Maybe that can be a resolution or a goal as we all stress too easy x
